THE AREA -> GLYKOMILIA (KATO PERLIAGO)
Glykomilia is 35Km away from Kalambaka. It has an average of 300 inhabitants who make their living mainly by cattle-breeding and timber-cutting.
The top Loupata and the Pyrgia offer an amazing view. Initially, the village was built in Choutiana. In 1850 it was destroyed by Kleftes. Only 4 families survived and they moved back to the village in modern times.
Glykomilia’s festival is on August 15th when a three-day traditional festival is held by the local Cultural Club.
Visitors should taste kembap, kokoretsi and boiled goat in the cafes and the steak houses. Dairy products and meat from the local producers is a must for every visitor who should not forget to visit the shelter on Koziakas, the ruins of the old village and the Loupata top.
